NMR
User Policy 1. Users are responsible for backing up/deleting their data as soon as possible. Disks on spectrometers are not meant for long-term data storage. 2. Use of lab gloves while typing at keyboard is NOT allowed. 3. Use of tobacco is prohibited in the NMR laboratories. 4. Non-routine adjustments of probes and any internal adjustments within any instrument console should not be made by users. Repairing and modification of the instrument by the user is forbidden. No variable temperature experiment should be conducted without prior consultation with either Dr. Treleaven or Dr. Weldigherghis 5. What is brought in must be taken out when you have finished the experiment. All unidentified NMR tubes will be discarded. 6. Any problems, malfunctions, system failures or damages must be reported to Dr. Treleaven or Dr. Weldhigheorghis If they are not available, a note should be left on the console so that further damage is not incurred and a voice mail message left for Dr. Treleaven. 7. A five minute grace period is allowed at the beginning of a time slot. After this time other users may rightfully take some or all of the remaining time. 8. If users do not cancel their appointment with a two hour notice, their account will be charged for the time he/she signed up for. 9. No user should attempt to train a NEW users on any instruments. Dr. Treleaven or Dr. Weldigheorghis will train all NEW users after they have received an approved request form and NEW users have completed the NMR quiz. 10. The NMR Facility will maintain the instruments and will set up routine experiments. The instrument will be checked out with an appropriate standard to ensure that it is working. More advanced experiments will be developed upon users' requests. 11. All users should contact Dr. Treleaven with complaints regarding instrument usage and disputes. 12. Facility staff will suspend the hands-on use of the NMR spectrometers by anyone inappropriately using an instrument, or who does not follow the rules as stated above. All users are welcome to make suggestions and to discuss any questions concerning these policies or any aspect of the NMR Facility operation with Facility staff. |
